View websiteThe Sneek antique dealer and appraiser, Mr. Piet Scheltema, became interested in Dutch model trains and started collecting them. As more and more model railway manufacturers discovered the Dutch market, his collection grew immensely.
Scheltema also wanted others to enjoy his collection, so he decided to open a museum. The first museum opened in 1984 at Gedempte Neltjeshaven. In 1987, the museum moved to Kleinzand and was only open during the summer months. Scheltema passed away in early 1989, after which the collection was stored with the family for several years.

View websiteMuseum it Tsiispakhûs is a small registered museum located in a former cheese warehouse, a national monument from 1905.
Through old dairy tools, cheese boards with "cheese" on the cheese loft, and historical film footage, we take you back to the time of butter and cheese making on the farm and the first dairy factories.
In this warehouse, the cheeses were left to ripen. The location by the Bolswarder Trekfeart is significant, as this canal used to be the main route to the city, and the owners of the warehouse also owned the freight boat from Wommels.Houtstad IJlst - Museum en Werkplaats
