House rules
Below you will find the most important house rules that apply within our hotel. We kindly ask you to respect and accept these rules.
General rules
- All instructions from hotel staff relating to house rules must be followed. Complaints can be reported to the management.
- The management, the owner of this premises, and/or persons employed by the hotel cannot be held liable for any injury and/or material or immaterial damage that visitors of the premises may experience.
- Hotel Sneek adheres to a Zero Tolerance policy. For all our guests, this means that in case of non-compliance with our house rules, no warning will be issued, but you will be immediately requested to leave the hotel. This also means that no refund will be given, and if you have paid a deposit, unfortunately, it will be retained.
- In all cases not covered by this regulation, the management of Van der Valk Hotel Sneek shall decide. Failure to comply with these rules may result in the involvement of the police and judiciary, and you may be asked to leave the premises immediately. The hotel reserves the right to terminate the reservation immediately without refund of the paid reservation amount.
- At Van der Valk Hotel Sneek, we treat each other with respect. Therefore, it is prohibited to intimidate our guests and staff through words, gestures, or actions.
- The staff of Van der Valk Hotel Sneek ensures your safety, in case of emergencies, the emergency plan will be activated. You are kindly but urgently requested to follow the instructions of the staff.
- There are cameras located in various areas within the building. Anyone present in our hotel consents to being recorded. In the event of emergencies and/or incidents, these recordings may be shown to third parties as supporting material.
- The hotel is not responsible for loss or theft of your belongings.
- Upon check-in, a valid form of identification must be presented. Check-in is available from the age of 18 years and above.
- All guests are required to report to the reception at the beginning of their stay or visit to a room/suite, with a valid form of identification.
- The reception may request a deposit for your stay at the hotel.
- Found items should be handed in at the reception.
- The family rooms are only rented to a family (1 or 2 caregivers and children).
- Disabling smoke or fire alarms will result in a fine of €250.
- In case of fire, remain calm. Report the fire to the reception and/or activate the nearest fire alarm.
- In case of a general fire alarm, please leave the building immediately.
- In case of fire, do not use the elevators under any circumstances.
- Van der Valk Hotel Sneek is required to comply with the provisions of the Drinking and Catering Act legislation. Therefore, alcoholic beverages are not provided to visitors under the age of 18. If there is any doubt about the age of a visitor, employees of Van der Valk Hotel Sneek will ask you to show identification.
- If alcohol is abused, further alcohol service may be denied to you.
- Pets, with the exception of guide dogs and assistance dogs, are not allowed anywhere in the hotel.
- Parking is free and at your own risk. Please do not leave any valuables in your vehicle.
It is not allowed to
- Taking hotel property outside the building is prohibited. Anyone deliberately damaging hotel property may be held liable for repair and/or replacement costs.
- Displaying disruptive or offensive behavior, unwanted intimacy, racism, discrimination, or unwelcome behavior within or outside the hospitality establishment is prohibited. Access will be denied for such behavior. In case of threats, assault, or other forms of aggression, a report will be filed at all times.
- Causing noise disturbance or loud noise after 23:00 hours is prohibited. From 23:00 hours onwards, it should be quiet in the corridors and rooms/suites of the hotel. It is not allowed to receive visitors in the room after 22:00 hours. A maximum number of guests is allowed for all rooms/suites.
- Tampering with or abusing our fire or safety facilities will result in immediate removal from the hotel. This will be done without refunding the room price or the paid deposit.
- Carrying weapons on your person, bringing them onto the premises, or possessing them within our facilities is strictly prohibited.
- Causing nuisance to others including loud music, disruptive behavior, or any kind of noise is strictly prohibited. In case of violation, a fine of €175 will be charged.
- To smoke anywhere in the Hotel. In case we notice that if there has been smoked in the room, you will get a penalty of € 175,00.
- Lighting candles/incense is prohibited due to the fire alarm and fire hazard (the security system will be activated immediately).
- Having more people in the room/suite than the permitted number is not allowed.
- Receiving visitors in the room/suite.
- Hosting guests in the rooms/suites for the purpose of sexual commercial activities is strictly prohibited. A fine of €175 will be charged for this offens
- Consume, use, trade or carry narcotics.
- Laughing gas cartridges or balloons to be used in the room/suite.
- Emergency exits can be used as normal entrances and exits.
In all cases not provided for in these regulations, the hotel management will decide.
Room regulations
- The presentation of a valid ID is mandatory.
- Checking out of this room is by 12 P.M., after which we will inspect the room.
- No pets are allowed in the rooms, with the exception of guide dogs and assistance dogs.
- In the rooms (excluding the multi-person rooms), a maximum of 2 persons are allowed. If you wish to bring a baby, we can provide a crib (for the price, please ask at the reception). Children under 12 years old are allowed, provided that 1 adult is present, and the total number of persons in the room is 2. Bringing children/babies is entirely at your own risk.
- It is not allowed to light candles/incense due to the fire alarm and fire hazard (the security system will be activated immediately).
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building. If we find evidence of smoking, there will be a fine of €175. If the fire alarm is triggered due to smoking in the room, you will be charged for the fire brigade call-out fees.
- Removal or damage of hotel belongings will always be reported to the police. Damage to hotel property caused by a guest will be charged to the individual.
- The use, trafficking, or possession of narcotics (in any form) is prohibited. In the event of drug use and trafficking, the hotel management will involve the police and may proceed with removal without refund.
- Certain decorations, such as confetti, are not allowed in the hotel rooms. Please inquire at the reception if your decoration is permitted. Any additional cleaning costs or technical issues arising from this will be the responsibility of the guest.
Suite regulations

- We may charge a security deposit for our suites ranging from €100 to €200. The deposit will be refunded upon check-out, provided the suite is left in the proper condition. Upon check-out, you will be asked to wait while we inspect the suite.
